Vogogna

Vogogna is a quaint little old town surrounding by giant mountains, like Monte Rosa, and it’s part of the Val Grande National Park, the largest wilderness in Italy. It’ s plunged in green Val d’Ossola and not far from the Maggiore, Orta and Mergozzo lakes.
In 2006 Vogogna was been given a prize for being one of the most beautiful little towns of Italy. The medieval village is well-preserved: along his river cobblestone paving alleys you can reach Palazzo Pretorio, ancient place for market, and then going up to Visconteo Castle, opened to visitors. The celtic Mascherone represents the most ancient past time: the tree-man, to remember the deep tie between man and nature.

From Vogogna you can reach Genestredo hamlet: on foot, in 15 minutes walking along a steep path and enjoying a nice view upon the stone roofs of Vogogna, or by car. Genestredo is a wonderful little stone town; there is the wash-house, the oven and the characteristic Circolo Arci , where you can eat and drink cheaply in weekends...From Genestredo you can reach the Fortress (IX c.) situated on a rock which overhangs the valley.
From Vogogna you can enjoy beautiful excursions and walking-tours in the summer alpine pastures upon the town (Marona and Ceresole alps) or to reach Colloro and then La Colma in Val Grande.
It’ s possible to run along the sweet plain of the valley bottom until the river Toce and visit other villages of the valley...
